Toowoomba East State School
Designed and constructed by Penfold Projects and Hutchinson Builders, the design intent for Toowoomba East State School was to deliver a versatile playground offering an array of texture, colours and play options for the children to use.
Extensive demolition and earthworks at Toowoomba East State School were undertaken to prepare the area for the revitalization of the playground.
Our Design and Construct team elected to create a rich and colourful mix of play items and textures. The final result is a harmonious blend of mulch, rubber soft fall, turf and concrete complemented by a variety of play and enrichment elements such as an undercover sandpit, timber logs and steppers, a play for and a mud pit with integrated water pump pouring over a drycreek.
Hardscape elements for Toowoomba East State School include an informal seating area made from sandstone blocks, curved concrete edging sealing all elements of the playground together. An array of items were also installed including benches, monkey bars and shade sails to allow for extended play time under the Queensland sun.
Landscaping including a mix use of turf and artificial turf, a variety of groundcovers and a selection of non-toxic plants. Overall, the Toowoomba East State School project was a success and another testament to the quality of work our regional team delivers.
