West End is one of the fastest growing suburbs in Brisbane. With its wine bars, breweries, art galleries and restaurants, it is widely considered a cultural hub. Soon, it will also be home to West Village, Brisbane’s most anticipated residential precinct with up to 13,000 square metres of lush green space, state-of-the-art apartments and retail shops, all set against the historic heritage listed backdrop of the old Peters Ice Cream Factory.
Developed by multi-award winning and world-renowned property builder and developer Sekisui House, this unique community focused precinct will offer its residents and visitors a sub-tropical and peaceful environment mixed with an array of urban excitement. With Hutchinson Builders leading the way, Penfold Projects completed softscape work on the first two New York inspired towers, Lexington and Park, on the 31st of August as part of Stage One.
Stage One A “The Common” is currently being developed to become a vibrant and lush sanctuary stretching out on 1,532 square metres. Penfold Projects has been tasked with hardscape work including stone walls, concrete and pavement, as well as softscape and streetscape works on Boundary Street. More streetscape work was also completed on Mollison Street as an early part of Stage Two.
In total, an impressive 433 freestanding planter pots are expected to be installed along with 57 ex-ground trees and up to 4500 plants. Challenging parts of the project included the logistics of accessing a difficult site and the sheer volume of work to be completed in the short timeframe of just 6 weeks. But our team has proven itself once again by striving under pressure, and overcoming all obstacles encountered on this journey.
We are proud to take part in the development of this soon-to-be cornerstone of West End which will create jobs, be home to more than 300 residents and provide lively green lush space for everyone to enjoy. Our sister company, Hedge Landscape Management has also been engaged to provide maintenance services on this thrilling project and has worked wonders so far. The future looks bright for West Village, and we are looking forward to reaching the next stages of development.
