UQ Student Hub
Penfold Projects was engaged by Hansen Yuncken to transform UQ’s new student hub into a lush urban green communal space.
UQ student hub consists of the construction of the Student SeNices Hub Precinct which includes redevelopment of certain building areas associated with Prentice Building, Staff House, Physics Annexe, Building 41 and the external redevelopment of the plaza and canopy structure, including associated hard and soft landscaping. For this project, our team was tasked with complimenting this modern space with lush and green landscapes.
Our scope of works for UQ student hub included the installation of a varied sub-tropical planting palette and edging to planted areas. Trellises were also installed by the team to create a sheltered seating area for students to meet or relax. Mature ex-ground trees were installed as part of the planting plan offering shade to passerby and adding to the impact of the overall landscape design.
In 2022, Penfold Projects won the Commercial 1 award at the Landscape Queensland Construction Excellence Awards for UQ Student Services Hub. The project also was finalist for Overall QLD Commercial Landscape Construction of the Year that same year.
Our field staff includes highly qualified landscape site supervisors and tradespersons, mobile plant operators, concrete, irrigation and maintenance staff.
