UQ Lake Amphitheatre
The UQ lake amphitheatre precinct, featuring a new acoustic soundshell for performances, has reopened after a multi-year revitalization project.
Nestled beside the UQ lake, the Dr Mary Mahoney AO Amphitheatre is a versatile space available for booking for various staff, student, and community events. Penfold Projects was commissioned to design lively landscapes around the UQ Lake Amphitheatre, incorporating native plants and natural materials. The aim was to create inviting outdoor spaces that foster social connections and interaction with nature, as part of a broader initiative to restore the UQ lake and its environs into a self-sustaining ecosystem. The enhancements around the amphitheatre now feature improved access and visual appeal, ensuring that this area serves as a vibrant and functional community asset for years to come.
