The Southport School
We’re proud to have delivered a transformative landscape project for The Southport School, creating a safe, engaging, and inspiring outdoor environment where students can connect with nature every day.
From the outset, our client’s brief was clear: design a space that would be both safe and stimulating — a natural play environment that would invite creativity, encourage physical activity, and offer a full sensory experience for students of all ages. We responded by constructing a custom-designed play court surrounded by immersive green elements: lush turf underfoot, thoughtfully selected planting to engage sight and smell, and carefully placed rock features that spark tactile exploration and imaginative play.
The centrepiece of the project is a striking coloured Astroturf field, proudly adorned with the school’s signature “TSS” lettering. More than just a visual highlight, this feature acts as a symbolic heart of the space — boldly representing school pride while offering a vibrant, multifunctional surface for active play and outdoor learning.
The result is a sensory-rich landscape that not only surrounds the children but becomes an active part of how they play, explore, and grow — supporting cognitive development and emotional wellbeing through direct engagement with nature.
Executing this vision came with its own set of challenges. Working on an active school campus meant limited time frames and access windows, requiring precise coordination with school operations. Our team met these constraints through meticulous planning, clear communication, and streamlined execution — all while maintaining the highest standards of site safety to ensure minimal disruption to the school’s daily routines.
