North Queensland Stadium
Born out of a joint venture between the Queensland Government, Townsville City Council and the National Rugby League, the North Queensland Stadium is a game-changing addition to the regional entertainment scene.
The 25,000 seat multi-purpose North Queensland Stadium, home to the North Queensland Cowboys, features generous green spaces and parklands. Landscape works included planting of over a 100 trees which were complemented by a large array of shrubs and plants, all carefully selected to thrive in Townsville’s humid climate. In total, approximately 5000 m2 of turf was laid, fertilized, watered, mowed and top dressed. A tailored irrigation system was designed and installed by our team to maximize results.
Hardscape elements incorporated the installation of permeable pavement to multiple areas surrounding the stadium. Tree grates were installed in all high pedestrian area footpaths. Last but not least our team participated in the installation of the symbolic “Captains Walk”. This was built using customized engraved pavers, recognizing the Cowboys’ 11 captains in history. The Captains Walk also features the names of individuals and organisations from the North Queensland community.
This challenging project is a testament to our ability to identify the core skills and experience to successfully execute our scope, specifically in remote locations.
