De Hill Estate
Situated at 136 Delathin Road, Algester, this upcoming new development named De Hill Estate is a quiet family village surrounded by a culturally rich local community, only a short drive to Sunnybank. Penfolds Projects was engaged by a private developer and Brisbane City Council to complete an array of areas across the parkland including a bioretention basin, a state-of-the-art children playground and BBQ facilities.
The installation of approximately 5000 m2 of turf was completed with the planting of a selection of trees to various areas of De Hill estate bordering Constance street and Jen street. A densely planted surface vegetation was created for the bio-retention basin to allow natural and effective filtration and prevent flooding. A gated concrete ramp allowing access to the basin, as well as peripheral fencing were installed to reinforce safety of the area.
The main park area was designed and built with a focus on creating a family friendly space for residents and visitors to congregate and enjoy social activities. The BBQ facilities encompassed the installation of a timber shelter and aluminium seats to a concrete slab and the building of a sandstone retaining wall. Additional amenities include a BBQ, drink fountain as well as various electrical and water connections.
De Hill Estate’s children playground was build with an emphasis on safety and functionality. It features various types of swings, a rocker and a tree house with built-in slide providing children with a diversity of options to play. A high end wet-poured rubber softfall lines the playground and multiple shade sails were set up to allow for extended playtime activities under the Queensland sun.
