The Calile Hotel
Our team recently completed work on the highly anticipated 48 James St project, also known as The Calile.
With landscape architecture by Lat27 and construction by Hutchinson Builders, the $63 million-dollar project is now home to 178 luxury rooms distributed over 7 storeys, a podium level “Urban Oasis” with pool, poolside cabanas, a fine dining restaurant, a fitness centre and spa, and last but not least an array of designer boutiques.
Our dedicated team worked day in & day out for 4 months to complete extensive streetscape and landscape works with a focus on producing a harmonious mix of urban and sub-tropical vibes. The extensive scope of work included reinstating the front garden driveway, supply and install of soil, mulch, river pebbles, plants and trees for multiple gardens and podium planters at all levels of the hotel, and the pool area. Additional works included tree pits excavation, guying, and design & construct of an irrigation system to ensure longevity and survival of the newly installed gardens.
Challenging aspects of the project included working in close quarters with other trades in a complex structure and difficult to approach site. Ex-ground trees necessitated the use of a crane to be installed, which required our most highly skilled team members. The iconic building captures all one could expect from a luxury destination hotel, and we hope that generations of tourists and locals will enjoy this stunning addition to the heart of Brisbane city for many years to come.
Post construction maintenance is now in the capable hands of Hedge Property Services.
