480 Queen St
Penfold Projects was engaged by Buildcorp to complete a face lift of the iconic Hobbs Park on 480 Queen St. The property, located in the heart of Brisbane’s central business district, was built and developed by Grocon in partnership with Dexus Group.
Hobbs Park is an elevated park designed by Lat27 to soften and bring balance to the urban structure of 480 Queen St. Situated on level 4, it features a variety of gardens integrated to the building to complement its architectural structure and complexity.
Our scope of works started with full removal of all soft landscaping back to the waterproofing layer including soil, plants, trees, mulch and irrigation system. This included vertical gardens to both side of the building, various gardens and herbs planters and a cascade of lush foliage to the Story Bridge facing amphitheater.
Working closely with the client in the selection of plant species, the second part of the scope was to create a vibrant and colorful palette seamlessly connecting all softscapes to the building. Green buildings are proven to reduce carbon emission while improving productivity and quality of living for the tenants and wider community. 480 Queen St has achieved a 6 Star Green Star rating and 5 Star NABERS Energy rating and is a prime example of the benefits of green buildings in Queensland.
Challenges arising from the project included working at height, difficulty of access to site and the technicality of working on sloped gardens.
Our field staff includes highly qualified landscape site supervisors and tradespersons, mobile plant operators, concrete, irrigation and maintenance staff.
