Austin Apartment was awarded ‘Winner’ in the Commercial Landscaping 2 category in the 2015 Landscape Queensland Awards.
Finding space to entertain or relax outdoor isn’t always easy when you live in the city. For those who live in an apartment block, the challenge can be even greater. The solution? Head up to the roof and turn what is often an unused and neglected space into an outdoor oasis!
Uninterrupted views are offered by the rooftop garden, which was constructed by our expert landscape construction team. Residents can enjoy the sunshine, drink in the views of the Brisbane River and City skyline, while protected from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Standing 20 storeys high and claiming a corner block, Aria Property Group‘s Austin Apartments was designed to offer the very best in sophisticated inner-city living, which extends to the rooftop garden. Our team created an environment for entertaining and relaxing, a space that could cater for all occasions while not compromising style and comfort. A swimming pool was essential, as well as separate zones for cooking, eating, and relaxing with friends.
Rothelowman Architects and our team provided a strategic design which enhances and frames the stunning views. The rooftop garden affords residents a variety of vantage points, one of which is the raised deck. The rooftop space also featured different relaxation zones, defined by groupings of furniture.
Raised planters were integrated into the design of the deck, providing a pop of colour to entice the eye while softening the lines of the angular design, glass paneling was also used to afford an open and free environment while connecting to the cityscape beyond. The project features an elevated-infinity-edged pool, with a trio of timber burees sitting adjacent to the pool. Each buree was furnished with a daybed and curtains.
The rooftop also featured a zone for cooking and BBQs with ample bench space, with a dining zone nearby to entertain. At night, the lighting ensures all outdoor living areas are set at just the right mood. The materials selected and used for this project were a key element in its success, from the mixed-species hardwood decking to the granite paving, and the tiled formed-concrete walling. The space is urban and the materials are perfectly suited to such an exposed environment.
